Transport Ministry: All roads and mountain passes in Kyrgyzstan are open

As of 10:30 on February 9, 2026, all roads and mountain passes across Kyrgyzstan are open to traffic, the press service of the Ministry of Transport and Communications reported. Road crews are maintaining stable traffic flow nationwide and promptly dealing with the effects of winter snowfall.

According to the ministry, road maintenance units in all seven regions are fully overseeing their assigned sections. Teams are on round-the-clock duty, clearing snow and treating surfaces with a sand-salt mixture to reduce skidding risks and improve traction on steep climbs and descents.

The ministry urged drivers to prepare vehicles for winter conditions and strictly follow traffic rules. For safer pass crossings, motorists are advised to use winter tires, carry snow chains and essential equipment, avoid entering oncoming lanes, and keep a safe distance between vehicles.

Officials added that 24/7 monitoring helps crews respond quickly to changing weather, while heavy equipment is prioritized on high-traffic segments to prevent congestion and keep interregional logistics running smoothly.
