Bishkek launches preparations for the Western Bypass Road as Kyrgyzstan and China sign a PPP memorandum

Bishkek has officially launched preparations for one of its key infrastructure initiatives—the Western Bypass Road. According to the National Investment Agency (NIA), Kyrgyz and Chinese parties signed a memorandum of cooperation on January 23 to implement the project under a public-private partnership (PPP) model.

The project предусматривает the construction and subsequent operation of a Western Bypass Road around Bishkek. Its main goal is to divert transit traffic away from the city’s street network, increase the capacity of major routes, and reduce congestion in the capital’s central areas.

The memorandum signing is described as an organizational step aimed at coordinating all stakeholders. The document was signed by representatives of the Ministry of Transport, the NIA, the Bishkek Mayor’s Office, Eldik Bank OJSC, Bat Zhet LLC, and China National Heavy Machinery Corporation.

The parties agreed to cooperate throughout project preparation and implementation, including financing, construction, and the road’s long-term operation.
